How to shorten a long URL with Gcut

A long link is hard to read in a chat, a bio, or a printed note. Gcut turns that address into a short gcut.in link that still opens the same page.
1. Paste the destination
Open the Gcut homepage and paste the full URL into the link field. Include https:// so the destination is unambiguous. If Auto Paste is on, Gcut can fill the field from your clipboard.
2. Add a custom code only if you need one
Leave the custom code empty and Gcut assigns a short code for you. A custom code, such as gcut.in/menu, is for links you will say aloud or print. That option is on a paid plan. Codes are limited in length and cannot use words reserved by the site, such as blog or login.
3. Shorten, then copy
Press Shorten Now. Copy the result and open it once yourself before you send it. That single check catches a typo in the destination.
Guests and accounts
You can create a small number of links without an account. The homepage shows how many guest links you have left. Register when you want the links saved to your account so you can edit, expire, or review them later. Free and paid plans have different limits, shown in the product when you are signed in.
Before you share
- Confirm the destination is a page you are allowed to share.
- Do not shorten malware, phishing, or other harmful pages. That use is blocked under the Terms & Conditions.
- If the link should stop working on a date, set an expiry after you are signed in.
