What click analytics actually tell you

A short link is also a measuring point. Each time someone opens it, Gcut can record that the redirect happened. The useful part is knowing what that record includes — and what it leaves out.
What a click is
A click here means the short link was requested and Gcut sent the visitor toward the destination. It is not a sale, a signup, or proof that the person read the page. If the destination is down, the click can still be counted on the short link.
What you can usually see
- Count and time. How many times the link was opened, and when.
- Device and browser. A rough split between phones and desktops, from the visitor’s browser.
- Approximate place. When tracking is on, an IP-based region. GPS-style location is separate and only applies when you turn that option on for a link.
Those details are there so you can see whether a poster, a bio, or a message is being used. They are described in the Privacy Policy.
Location is optional
Do not enable location features by default. Turn them on only when you have a clear reason, and tell people what the link collects before they open it. You are responsible for using that data lawfully.
How to read the numbers
- Compare links that differ by one thing — the channel — not links that also changed the offer.
- Expect your own tests to show up. Open the link once, then ignore that first click or note the time.
- A spike after you post is a signal the link was seen. A flat line after a print run usually means the code is hard to scan or the destination is not worth the tap.
- Repeat opens from the same person can raise the count. Treat the number as visits to the short link, not as unique customers.
Keep the link stable
Analytics only stay meaningful if the short code does not change mid-campaign. Update the destination if the landing page moves, and leave the gcut.in code on the poster as it is. Create the link from the homepage, then review clicks from your account.
