Privacy Policy
Last updated: 18 September 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Gcut (gcut.in) collects, uses, and protects information when you use our URL shortener, analytics, and related features.
1. Information we collect
Depending on how you use Gcut, we may collect:
- Account details such as name, email address, and password (stored in hashed form).
- Link data such as destination URLs, short codes, titles, QR settings, and expiry options.
- Usage and click data such as click counts, timestamps, IP address, browser, device type, and approximate location when tracking is enabled.
- Location features such as GPS or page-content location, only when you turn those options on for a link.
- Support messages you send us, including email plan or billing requests.
2. How we use information
- Provide, operate, and improve the Gcut service.
- Create short links, show analytics, and deliver QR codes.
- Authenticate accounts, prevent abuse, and enforce usage limits.
- Respond to support and plan requests.
- Send service emails such as verification or password reset.
3. Location and click tracking
Some Gcut features can collect IP-based or GPS location and device information for analytics or FindMe-style pages. These features are optional. If you enable them on a short link, visitors of that link may be asked for permission or have their click metadata recorded as part of the service.
You are responsible for using location features lawfully and for telling your visitors if you collect their location.
4. Cookies and local storage
We use cookies and browser storage to keep you signed in, remember theme preference, and measure basic site usage. You can block cookies in your browser, but some features may stop working.
5. Sharing of information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share data only with:
- Service providers who help us host, send email, or operate the website.
- Authorities if required by law or to protect Gcut, our users, or the public.
Paid plans are purchased through Gcut checkout. We do not store your UPI PIN, card number, or bank password on Gcut.
6. Data retention
We keep account, link, and analytics data while your account is active and as needed to provide the service. Deleted links and expired guest links may be removed or anonymized after a reasonable period, unless we must keep records for security or legal reasons.
7. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data. No internet service is completely secure, so please use a strong password and keep your login details private.
8. Your choices
- Update profile details from your account.
- Turn tracking or location options off on links you control, where the product allows it.
- Ask us to correct or delete your account data, subject to legal and security limits.
9. Children
Gcut is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it where required.
10. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of Gcut after an update means you accept the revised policy.
